NEW YORK MILLS - Participants are being sought to make and operate puppets in the annual puppet pageant scheduled Aug. 13 in New York Mills.
The annual puppet pageant is part of the annual August Corn Feed at 6 p.m. The larger than life puppet figures perform on Centennial Drive in front of Central Park.
The story of each year's pageant is drawn from the Finnish national epic poem, the Kalevala. The pageant needs help from children and adults in designing, making and operating the puppets. The actual making takes place on a flexible schedule during the two weeks before the pageant.
This was a battle of two mythic figures from the Kalevala in 2009. New York Mills is looking for people interested in helping with this year's puppet pageant scheduled Aug. 13.
Anyone who would like to be involved is asked to call (218) 385-3339.
