FERGUS FALLS - Two artists from Breezy Point are representing the Five Wings Arts Council region in a statewide art show, the Minnesota Regional Arts Councils Combined Exhibit, scheduled in Fergus Falls.
An oil painting, "Icon," by Jill Rassmussen and a triptych of encaustic on clay works by Ashleigh Buck, along with the work of other Minnesota artists, will be displayed through Oct. 8 at the Lake Region Arts Council Gallery in Fergus Falls. An artists' reception will be held at the gallery on Sept. 21.
"Oil painting is my passion," said Rassmussen in an e-mail release. "The first time I brushed oil paint on a canvas I felt an understanding with the medium."
"Smile Girl," an encaustic on clay piece, was created by Ashleigh Buck from Breezy Point and will be on display in the Minnesota Regional Arts Councils Combined Exhibit show through Oct. 8 at the Lake Region Arts Council Gallery in Fergus Falls.
Rassmussen attended St. Cloud State University, earned a bachelors in art education and will teach art this fall at the Crosby-Ironton School District.
Buck graduated from Bemidji State University with a degree in painting and drawing. During her college years, she also studied in Viterbo, Italy.
"My art deals with the female form. I enjoy taking the perfect body and distorting it, creating something more interesting," said Buck.
