'Conversations with Jon Hassler' to be discussed

Joe Plut will bring his insights and interviews with Jon Hassler for a Brainerd Public Library event from 12-1 p.m.Monday. Plut will be the eighth and final author in this summer's Brown Bag Lunch Summer Speakers' Series.

Plut's "Conversations with Jon Hassler" covers their friendship of nearly 40 years and also their mutual love of good writing. Plut, a retired Central Lakes College instructor, collected and refined a series of nine interviews he had with Hassler between 1997 and 2001. Hassler wrote 15 books including "Love Hunter," "Dear James" and "North of Hope." Besides their love of writing, the two men shared their education at St. John's University and their love of the community feel of a small town, having grown up in area small towns.

This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Brainerd Public Library and is open to all, free of charge.
