Todd Mathison, son of Brainerd High School graduates Tony and Cheryl Mathison, and grandson of Sharon Mathison and Steve and Ardelle Wentworth, signed July 24 to play for the St. Paul Saints of the American Association.
Mathison, a 2009 graduate of St. Olaf College, went 27-7 in four seasons and played infield while hitting .351 with eight home runs and 97 RBIs. His 27 victories tied him for the most wins in school history.
This spring, the 22-year-old went 6-5 with a 3.54 ERA in 76.1 innings. He also hit .367 with five homers and a team-high 50 RBIs, which rank fourth in school history.
He was a three-time all-region selection and earned All-MIAC honors every year. His junior year he was the league's co-player of the year after hitting a career-best .393 and went 6-2 on the mound.
