"Monster" Mike Schultz of Pillager will compete in adaptive motocross in the ESPN Summer X Games Friday in Los Angeles.
ESPN will televise the Games live at 7 p.m. Friday and will rebroadcast the event at 1 a.m. Saturday. T.J.'s Log Cabin in downtown Brainerd invites fans to watch the event Friday.
ESPN is also scheduled to air a story on Schultz and his wife, Sara, during Friday's broadcast. Mike Schultz had a leg amputated following a snowmobile racing accident Dec. 13, 2008.
Schultz is coming off a second-place finish in adaptive motocross at the Extremity Games July 11 in Michigan.
Region 8C baseball tournament this weekend
The first two rounds of the Region 8C amateur baseball tournament will be played at Pierz Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday's games will match Fort Ripley and Lastrup at 11 a.m., Brainerd Braves and Buckman at 1:30 p.m., Avon and Sobieski at 5 p.m. and Upsala and St. Stephen at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday's losers' bracket games are at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Winners' bracket games are at 5 and 7:30 p.m.
Rick Grammond will call play-by-play for every game through the state tournament on KLTF-AM Radio (960). Night games will be simulcast on KFML-FM (94.1) and will also be available online at fallsradio.com.
