The White Sox, Tigers and Devil Rays won Brainerd Parks and Recreation Paul Bunyan League baseball playoff titles this week.
In Pony League action, Jay Rakowski smacked a game-ending grand slam to give the White Sox a 14-4 victory Wednesday via the 10-run rule after five innings. Rakowski was 3-for-4 in the game. Also for the White Sox, Kevin O'Grady belted a 3-run homer and was the winning pitcher and Adam Hohnert was 3-for-3.
The Giants 8-7 upset the Pirates, who had won the regular-season Pony League title with a 16-0 record, on Monday.
The Tigers surprised the regular-season champion Mets 5-2 to win the Bronco League playoff title Wednesday.
For the Tigers, Cody Hummel struck out three batters and hit a double, Blake Herron struck out four batters and hit two doubles and stole three bases, Joe Schley had a double and two singles, Travis Dixon had two doubles, a single and struck out three batters, and Blake Smith had two singles.
Carl Sneep who struck out seven batters and Dan Lepel who fanned five batters paced the Mets. Lepel had a single and home run while Sneep and Nick Schueller each singled.
The Devil Rays finished the season undefeated with a 12-2 victory over the Athletics in Mustang League action Thursday.
Cody Stange and Desmond Janousek each doubled for the Athletics.
