Central Lakes College in Brainerd will host a basic scooter rider training class from 5:30-10 p.m. Aug. 12 and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 14 or Aug. 15.

The course is held at the Business and Industry Center and nearby riding space. Students bring their own scooters up to 500cc to ride in the course, including small scooters under 50cc that have more than two horsepower and require a motorcycle operator's license.

Scooter operators can earn the motorcycle endorsement required to operate their scooter on the street.

Students will need to have a valid motorcycle permit or one expired less than one year to test for their endorsement. They will also need to present proof of current insurance on their scooter and it will need to pass a T-CLOCS inspection.

The fee is $160, payable at registration. Deadline to register is Aug. 5.
