Father Stanley Dolsina, aged 90, died at the Benedictine Health Center on July 27, 2009. Father Dolsina was born in Velike Lasce, Slovenia, on May 18, 1919. He received his seminary education in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and did graduate studies in music in Italy. He was ordained for the Diocese of Ljubljana in Padua, Italy, on June 29, 1946. In 1948 he came to the Diocese of Duluth and officially joined the Diocese in 1967. Father Dolsina served Holy Family Church, Eveleth; St. Francis Church, Brainerd; St. Peter's Church, Duluth; St. Joseph's Church, Deerwood; Our Lady of Fatima Church, Garrison; St. Mary's Church, Willow River; St. Elizabeth's Church, Duluth; St. Anthony's Church, Duluth; and St. Lawrence Church, Duluth, from where he retired in 1989 after burning the mortgage. In retirement, Father Dolsina helped out in numerous parishes and lately had resided at Edgewood Vista, Duluth, where he said Mass for the Catholic residents. He is survived by two sisters, Antonia and Lucia; nephews, Father Edo Skulj, Lojz Dolsina and Janko Dolsina, all of Slovenia.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 30 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 2410 Morris Thomas Road, Duluth, with visitation from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral Mass. A wake service will be held at St. Lawrence Church on Wednesday, July 29, at 7 p.m. with visitation beginning at 5 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
