American Motorcyclist Association National Champions Rich Alexander and Jason Pridmore discussed motorcycle safety Thursday at a media event organized by Crow Wing County Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
The event occurred near the main entrance gates to the Colonel's Brainerd International Raceway.
Alexander and Pridmore are participating in the AMA Chevy Trucks U.S. Superbike Championship this weekend at CBIR.
They addressed the dangers of drinking and riding, general road safety and the importance of keeping a healthy lifestyle.
The Northcountrymen Barbershoppers will conduct a Musical Potpourri, which includes three choruses, three quartets and an octet of nine members from the Sweet Adelines.
The concert is 7 p.m. Saturday at Tornstrom Auditorium at Washington Middle School at South Eighth and Oak streets. Those attending are asked to each bring one non-perishable food item for the food shelf or pay a $5 admission.

The Foster Grandparent Program is seeking retirees over the age of 60 to mentor at-risk children at Mid-Minnesota Women's Center, Minnesota Learning Center, Baxter Youth Shelter, Pillager Elementary School, Nisswa Elementary School and PORT Group Homes.
The Senior Companion Program is seeking retirees over the age of 60 to assist at-risk or isolated seniors to remain in their homes. The program works with Crow Wing County Public Health and Crow Wing County Social Services. They are in need of someone in the Crosby/Ironton/Deerwood area as well as the Brainerd/Nisswa/Crosslake/Pequot Lakes area.
In return for their time, volunteers will receive a tax-free stipend, reimbursed for meals and mileage, volunteer liability insurance, ongoing support, training and recognition.

The Crow Wing County Teen Pregnancy Coalition will meet from 3-4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the extension office on the first floor of the Crow Wing County Courthouse in Brainerd.

The Initiative Foundation announced the appointment of Janet L. Moran to its regional board of directors.
Moran, a Brainerd School Board member, is an alumnus of both the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Minnesota, where she earned her master of science degree in family social sciences. She has held volunteer leadership positions with St. Joseph's Medical Center Foundation and Benedictine Foundation.
Moran is a recipient of the Outstanding Layperson in Public Education Award and Outstanding School Board Member Award from the Minnesota School Boards Association.
