Martin Messerschmidt

NEW SALEM, N.D. -- Martin William (Carkhuff) Messerschmidt, 57, New Salem, N.D., died Thursday, July 21, 2005, in a Bismarck hospital. Funeral services were held Monday, July 25, 2005, at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, N.D. Burial will take place at a later date.

Martin was born Aug. 19, 1947, at Duluth, Minn., to Vernon and Norma (Phillips) Messerschmidt.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry, New Salem, N.D.; one daughter, Rebecca (Edward) Henagin, Hillman, Minn.; three sons, Mac Carkhuff, Champlin, Minn., Nathaniel Messerschmidt and Preston Messerschmidt, New Salem, N.D.; three sisters, Priscilla Gilbert, Duluth, Patricia (Duane) Fornshell, Brainerd, Penelope (Dale) Buran, Cloquet, Minn.; three brothers, Bob (Linda) Phillips, Bismarck, N.D., Phillip (Lori) Carkhuff, Waite Park, Minn., and Vern Messerschmidt, New Salem, N.D.; and three grandchildren.
