John Thomas wasn't trying to figure out how he could wear the giant pocket watch Friday. Thomas, who donated his time, was using a cherry picker to install the matchbox on the Paul Bunyan watch hanging in downtown Brainerd. The watch now works again.

The largest field of cars this season turned out for Saturday night's races at North Central Speedway. There were 27 hobby stocks and 14 late models.

The past is coming back to life in Crow Wing State Park as a "dig" sponsored jointly by the Minnesota Historical Society and state parks unearths the site of an old trading post and village site.

The Brainerd Lions Club will hold its weekly dinner meeting tonight at the Hoffmann House on Highway 371. Final plans will be made by the club for the Lions-Rotary softball game Thursday night.

Between 5,000 and 6,000 chickens, shipped by farmers in Crow Wing County and Aitkin County made up a carload that started on its way to market from the Brainerd station Monday evening.

Local News: Mrs. E. Bloomstrom has gone to Deerwood to visit Dr. Blakeley, of Bemidji, went through to the cities today. John Hoffbauer, left his afternoon for Sylvan. Ralph Hastings who sprained his arm recently is rapidly recovering.
