STAPLES -- Earl James Furzland, 68, Staples, formerly of Princeton, died Friday, July 22, at his home in Staples.
He was born Oct. 15, 1936, in Minneapolis, son of Arthur James and Mabel Ester (Peters) Furzland. He served in the United States Navy from January 1955 to January 1957.
He married Joan Bernadette Osieczanek on July 27, 1957, in Robbinsdale, Minn. He worked as an auto glass installer for many years, as a police officer for the city of Princeton and owned his own glass business, EJ's Auto Glass Service Inc. In his retirement, he was an associate at the Wal-Mart in Baxter, Minn.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Bernadette, of Staples; four children, Gregory (Sheryl) Furzland, of Princeton, Joanne (Furzland) Foertsch, of Eagan, Minn., Ronald (Theresa) Furzland, of Mahtowa, Minn., and Bradley Furzland, of Leader, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Matthew, Keith, and Johnathan Furzland, Angela, Jeremiah, Benjamin and Aaron Foertsch, and Earel and Keifer Furzland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Irene and Dorothy; and granddaughter, Cassandra Jean (C.J.) Furzland.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, Princeton, Minn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Princeton, Minn. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Arrangements are being made by Williams-Hanson-Kaun in Princeton.
