Bill Marchel, nationally known wildlife and outdoor photographer-writer, will speak and show slides from his collection of more than 80,000 images at a brown bag lunch from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the Brainerd Public Library.
Marchel will give those who attend the program an opportunity to learn special techniques for taking good wildlife pictures and making the best use of available photographic equipment. This event is part of a summer-long series sponsored by Friends of the Brainerd Library. It is free and open to the public.
In the past five years Marchel has sold thousands of images, including 100 magazine cover photos, to such magazines as Audubon, Field and Stream, Outdoor Life and Ducks Unlimited. He is a self-taught photographer and stresses, "The basics of photography can be learned rather quickly, but one can never know enough about the outdoors."
