LITTLE FALLS -- Mabel A. Raffensparger, 103, Little Falls, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls.
She was born Aug. 17, 1897, to Hoel E. Johnson and Mary Ella (Green) Johnson. She attended country school. She moved to Swanville with her family at the age of 16. She attended one year of normal school and qualified to be a teacher in the country school system. She taught country school from 1915-1917 between Long Prairie and Browerville. She married Edward Raffensparger in 1917. They lived in Staples and moved back to Swanville in 1922. They moved to Duluth in 1940. They retired in 1960 and returned to Little Falls. Her husband died in 1978. She moved into the Pine Grove Manor Apartments in 1997. She was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Little Falls.
Survivors include a daughter, Mildred Erickson, West St. Paul; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband; three sons, Russell, Robert and Dale Raffensparger; two brothers; and three sisters died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Greg Vallentine, the Rev. Harold Dark and the Rev. Roland Jennings officiating. Burial will be in Springbrook Cemetery in Swanville.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church.
