Helping them come home

Posted: Wednesday, July 26, 2000

If your runaway teen wants to come home and you need help with transportation, the National Runaway Switchboard may be able to help.

The Home Free program, sponsored by Greyhound Lines, Inc., grants free one-way bus tickets to qualified runaway youths who want to go home. The program is open to youths ages 12-18.

To begin the process, the teen must call NRS at 1-800-621-4000 and ask about the Home Free program. Or call the Baxter Youth Shelter at 828-4383 or toll free at 1-888-828-4383, day or night.

Several Brainerd lakes area teens have returned home as a result of the national program.
