Cass Council on Aging planning state fair trip

WALKER -- The Cass County Council on Aging is again sponsoring a bus trip for seniors who wish to attend the State Fair on Aug. 31.

This is Senior Day at the fair and people age 65 and older are admitted for $3. This is also the day the Outstanding Senior Citizen Awards for Minnesota are presented and Cass County's Outstanding Senior Citizen, Patty Herheim, will be honored at this ceremony.

The Outstanding Senior Citizen ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at the Grain Belt Premium Bandshell where one man and one woman will be selected as the state winners for their accomplishments and contributions to their communities after age 65. This ceremony will be followed by a reception and refreshments.

Free entertainment is available throughout the fair all day and shuttle trams are available. Wheelchairs and electric scooters are available for rental on a first-come, first-served basis, call (651) 642-2448 for information on accessibility.

Also, the grandstand is presenting a matinee show beginning at 1 p.m. The scheduled show is Glen Campbell and Roy Clark. Main stand seats are an additional $20 and are available by calling 1-800-333-6213.
