Gov. Al Quie says he will support legislation giving the city of Brainerd an option not to fluoridate its water supply even though the state Department of Health is preparing to go to court to force the fluoridation.

A 15-minute downpour yesterday afternoon dropped 1.3 inches of rain on Brainerd, flooding Brainerd streets and sending water into residential basements. The water overwhelmed storm sewers at Sixth and Laurel, backing up into businesses.

The conservation section of the Nisswa Commercial Club began the task of liberating 600 pheasant chicks in the vicinity of north Gull Lake. They had been raised on the Sullen farm just south of Bar Harbor since they were day-old chicks.
