Austin Powers returns

Mike Myers returns this week with his third Austin Powers installment, the wildly successful franchise that parodies early James Bond films.

"Austin Powers in Goldmember" features Myers as the "international man of mystery" and his arch enemy Dr. Evil, who hatches a time-traveling scheme to take over the world. As usual, raucous humor prevails.

The movie opens nationwide today, including at Westgate 10 in Brainerd-Baxter and other lakes area theaters.

County fair time

The Cass County Fair in Pillager will run through Sunday at the Pillager Fairgrounds. The buildings will open each day at 10 a.m. and close around 10 p.m. There will be no carnival at the fair.

Events will include the Miss Pillager coronation and demolition derby Friday, parade and fireworks Saturday, and demolition derby Sunday. There will be a street dance Friday night with Music in Motion and Saturday night with Silent Partner.
