Crosslake-FL-PL moves into winners' bracket

REGAL - Victories over Bertha-Hewitt and Sebeka on Thursday thrust Crosslake-Fifty Lakes-Pequot Lakes into the winners' bracket in the District 6 Division II tournament.

C-FL-PL blanked Bertha-Hewitt 10-0 as Ben Kepner gave up one hit in six innings. Jake Box pitched one inning and also allowed one hit.

In addition, Kepner was 3-for-3 with a solo home run. Tyler Wittwer was 2-3, Brandon Hilts 2-2 and Jake Serfling doubled.

In Game Two, Hilts pitched a two-hitter in a 4-0 win over Sebeka. Charlie Hollinbeck went 3-3, Box was 2-3 and Hilts and Josh Rudbeck were 1-3.

C-FL-PL plays Royalton in the winners' bracket at 3 p.m. Friday at Paynesville. If it loses it plays again at noon Saturday. If it wins it plays at 3 p.m. Saturday and would be the only unbeaten team in the tournament.

Aitkin eliminated

PAYNESVILLE - Aitkin lost 8-5 to Royalton and 15-1 in five innings to Paynesville and saw its season end in the District 6 Division II tournament Thursday.

In Game One, Aitkin's Kyle Hoffman went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and RBI single. He also pitched a complete game, allowing five hits and just two earned runs. He had one walk and two strikeouts.

In Game Two, Dan Landrus pitched four innings and took the loss. He allowed seven hits, struck out one and walked six. Aitkin was limited to two singles.
