CROSSLAKE - Pianist Stephen Gosling and soprano Nancy Allen Lundy will perform at a recital at 7 p.m. Sunday at Crosslake Lutheran Church.
Stephen Gosling
The first half of the program will include music of the 17th century, beginning with songs of the British composer, Henry Purcell, followed by selected works for piano by French composer, Francios Couperin and Dutch composer, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck. Ending the first half, Gosling will join Lundy for some early 20th century French songs of Claude Debussy. The second half of the program will be devoted to the folk song of the early 20th century. As a nod to Gosling's British homeland, they will perform two English and two Irish folk tunes set by Benjamin Britten. In homage to Gosling's Brazilian mother, they will perform two folk-like songs of Heitor Villa-Lobos originally set for eight cellos and soprano. Finishing the program will be an offering of well-known American songs and hymns set by Aaron Copland.
