AITKIN - William P. Muscatello, 65, of Aitkin, died Monday, July 20, 2009, at his residence.
He was born April 6, 1944, in Duluth to Peter and Ardath (Davenport) Muscatello. He graduated from Denfeld High School in Duluth class of 1962. He attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth earning his bachelor of science degree in 1966, and then attended St. Mary's University in Winona where he earned his master of arts degree in 1972.
On Aug. 12, 1967, in Virginia, Minn., Bill was united in marriage to Marge Blake.
He was employed as a science teacher at Villard High School and then as a life science teacher for Aitkin High School. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and attending their activities, being with family and friends at the cabin, fishing, reading the newspaper, camping, biking, playing softball and volleyball. He organized summer T-ball for Aitkin youth, was a member of First Lutheran Church, Aitkin Jaycees, Education Minnesota and Aitkin Federation of Teachers Local No. 1710.
Bill is survived by his wife, Marge; one son and daughter-in-law, Joel (Alissa) Muscatello, of Maple Grove; one daughter and son-in-law, Jean (Doug) Trenda, of Deerwood; five grandchildren, Tyler and Anna Trenda, Eva, Leah, and Nadia Muscatello; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy (Arlene) Muscatello, of Maplewood, Pete (Paula) Moscatelli, of Blaine; one sister and brother-in-law, Claudia (Jay) Langseth, of Breckenridge; sister-in-law, Shirley Muscatello, of Duluth.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Homer Muscatello; nephew, Aaron Moscatelli; and his parents, Peter and Ardath.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2009, at First Lutheran Church in Aitkin. The Rev. Cynthia Gray and the Rev. Gary Kasten will officiate. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Oneota Cemetery, Duluth. Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin.
