Motorcyclist injured after hitting deer

CAMP RIPLEY - A 74-year-old Sartell man suffered severe injuries after the motorcycle he was driving struck a deer at 1:12 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 115, west of Camp Ripley, the State Patrol reported.

John Pekarek was driving westbound on Highway 115 when two deer ran onto the road from the south ditch.

Pekarek was not wearing a helmet and suffered head injuries as a result of the crash, the State Patrol reported. He was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale where Wednesday he was reported in critical condition.

The Morrison County Sheriff's Department assisted.
