Vergas author releases novel
VERGAS -- "The Towers," the second murder mystery from Vergas-based author Ernest Francis Schanilec, has been published by McCleery & Sons. It follows "Blue Darkness" (2002).
"The Towers" is a tale of murder and suspense that takes place in a high-rise apartment building in Minneapolis. The main character, Tom Hastings, had moved there from the lake country of central Minnesota. In "Blue Darkness," Hastings' life was seriously threatened during the investigation of the murder of his neighbor. His move to the high-rise turns out to be anything but peaceful because a psychopathic serial killer terrorizes him and the other residents.
Schanilec was born in the Red River Valley of the North in 1933 and earned his doctoral degree in dentistry from the University of Minnesota in 1958. He worked as a dentist in Fargo until 1994. He is currently working on his third novel, "Danger in the Keys," set in Florida and continuing the adventures of Tom Hastings.
