Aitkin Legion beats Crosby-Ironton
CROSBY -- The Aitkin American Legion baseball team finished the regular season with a come-from-behind 11-9 win against Crosby-Ironton.
Trailing 9-6 in the seventh inning, Jason Rikila led off with a double then scored on a balk. Jared Perry, Josh McGuire and Jacob Mehr all walked to load the bases.
Brian Burman knocked out a two-run double to tie the game then scored the winning run on a Matt Nadeau double.
Aitkin finished with six hits and two errors. Perry and John Holder combined for 10 strikeouts and five walks.
C-I finished with 11 hits led by Ben Baratto's 4-for-5 performance.
Aqua Sox take Mustang title
Pitchers Blake Peterson and Jeremy Thesing combined to strikeout 15 as the Aqua Sox defeated the Blue Claws 4-1 Tuesdy for the Brainerd Parks and Recreation Mustang League championship at Bane Park.
Gunner Askegard was 3-for-3 for the Aqua Sox and Peterson was 2-for-3. Brandon Tautges and Ryan Roscoe each added a hit for the Aqua Sox.
