RICHFIELD -- Wilbur "Bud" Gerrels, 76 of Richfield, formerly of Pillager, passed away July 21, 2003, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident July 16, south of Staples.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 26, 2003, at noon at the Grace Church in Eden Prairie. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel in Richfield. Burial will be at the Sunset Memorial Park, Minneapolis.
Arrangements are with the Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel.
Wilbur Gerhard Gerrels was born Jan. 30, 1927, to William and Ethel (Bingman) Gerrels at Pillager. He attended Pillager High School and was in the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II. On Nov. 25, 1947, he married Rosa Neil Cox in Birmingham, Ala. On his discharge from the Navy they moved to Minneapolis, where "Bud" worked for Eaton Corp., as a tool-die maker until his time of retirement.
Bud is survived by his wife Rosa of Richfield; one son Michael (Rusty) Gerrels, of Isle; grandson, Jeromy; great-grandson, Ryan; two sisters, Leota Stark of Staples, and Audrey (Robert) Weber of Fort Ripley, one uncle Edward (Vi) Gerrels of Brainerd; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by this parents and one sister, Beatrice Cole.
