Gulls lose

WATERLOO -- The Brainerd Mighty Gulls lost to the Waterloo Bucks 7-1 Saturday in a Northwoods League game in front of 2,279 fans.

The Gulls committed four errors -- second baseman Mike McCoy, third baseman Luke Appert, left fielder Matt Johns and pitcher Mark Hanrahan -- which led to three unearned runs.

Hanrahan went six innings and gave up two earned runs on seven hits, while striking out six. Nic Ungs, who is 6-1 with a 2.47 ERA this summer, pitched eight innings of six-hit ball to lead the Bucks.

McCoy and Scott Beshears each had two hits for the Gulls, while David Bagley was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
