20 years ago (1980)

The executive director of the Minnesota Service Station Association said prices as low as $1.12.9 cents for regular gas and $1.16.9 for unleaded gasoline have been seen in the Twin Cities, Duluth, Brainerd and Moorhead.

30 years ago (1970)

The fate of the entire Iron Exchange Building remains uncertain as city officials, local and state fire officials and insurance adjusters probe through the wreckage left by yesterday's morning fire.

40 years ago (1960)

The Brainerd appearance of the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, has been set for Tornstrom Auditorium in Washington High School Oct. 1.

60 years ago (1940)

If there is one single element of the weather which is favorable to the chief business of the Brainerd Lakes Region, it is just what we are now experiencing -- heat, and lots of it!

80 years ago (1920)

Walt Kunitz and Jeff Saunders were driving in a Ford on one of the swamp roads when the Fliver upset in three feet of water. They got help from a Country Lath Mill crew, seven picking up the Ford and setting it on dry land. The fish, a bunch of trout, all beauties, were saved.

100 years ago (1900)

At the City Meat Market, every purchaser of meat at our market is given a ticket with the amount of their purchase. A Roll baking pan is given free when the purchases amount to $30.
