LITTLE FALLS -- Rep. Steve Wenzel, DFL-Little Falls, is supporting proposed legislation designed to make the ethanol-rich fuel E-85 available statewide within five years, an effort that he says will pay benefits for the rural economy and the environment while also providing an answer to high gas prices.
"This proposal could pay off for both the short and long term," Wenzel, of Little Falls, said. "Expanding the market for ethanol will greatly benefit Rural Minnesota, by supporting corn prices and spurring expansion of our state's locally owned ethanol plants. E-85 produces less pollution than ordinary gas, so it will help solve the Twin Cities' air pollution problems. And the biggest benefit to consumers is that E-85 is 10 to 50 cents a gallon cheaper at the pump."
