Brainerd opens vs. St. Cloud

Brainerd will play the St. Cloud 76ers in the opening round of the District 6 Division I tournament at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faber Field in St. Cloud.

Brainerd, runner-up in its subdistrict tournament, has won three of its last four games and carries a 9-12 mark into the contest. The 76ers are the No. 3 seed from the St. Cloud subdistrict tournament.

Little Falls, champion of the Brainerd subdistrict tournament, opens against host Waite Park at 2 p.m.

The eight-team, double-elimination tournament runs through Friday. Championship game is at 7 p.m. Friday at Putz Field. A second game, if necessary, would be at noon Saturday at Putz.

At stake for the district champion is a berth in the Division I state tournament July 30-Aug. 2 at New Ulm.

Crosslake-FL-PL plays Bertha-Hewitt at 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Aitkin opens against Royalton at 10 a.m. Thursday at Paynesville.
