Youths qualify for state soccer event

Brainerd Elks Lodge No. 615 hosted the 13th annual Elks Soccer Shoot contest for boys and girls ages 5-13.

Thirty youths representing Elks Lodges from Alexandria, Brainerd, Fergus Falls, Hutchinson, Wadena and Willmar competed in the contest July 18 at Forestview Middle School in Baxter.

First-place winners in each division advance to compete in the Minnesota Elks Soccer Shoot on Aug. 29 at the Minnesota Elks Youth Camp. The contest will include 32 participants representing 27 Minnesota Elks Lodges.

Advancing to the Minnesota Elks Association Soccer Shoot from the Central District are Samuel Alcock (front left), Brainerd; Jade Zierden, Fergus Falls; Hunter Rettke, Brainerd; and Jacob McGuire (back left), Brainerd; Johanna Espinoza, Willmar; Joaquin Espinoza, Willmar; Kaitlyn Mlinar, Hutchinson; Maiya Hornemann, Hutchinson.

Youths representing the Elks Central District at the Minnesota State Elks Soccer Shoot include:

Girls 7 and under: Jade Zierden, Fergus Falls; Boys: Hunter Rettke, Brainerd.

Girls 8-9: Maiya Hornemann, Hutchinson; Boys: Samuel Alcock, Brainerd.

Girls 10-11: Johanna Espinoza, Willmar; Boys: Jacob McGuire, Brainerd.

Girls 12-13: Kaitlyn Mlinar, Hutchinson; Boys: Joaquin Espinoza, Willmar.
