Jansson, Beebe lift S-M to win

STAPLES - Alex Jansson and Chad Beebe delivered key hits as the second-seeded Staples-Motley Legion team defeated No. 3 Sebeka 5-1 in a Subdistrict 6 Division II tournament game Monday.

Jansson had a two-run, two-out single in the third, Beebe a two-run single in the fifth. Devin Becker finished 2-for-3 for S-M.

Jordan Riewer pitched a complete game to get the win. In seven innings he struck out seven and walked none. He allowed five hits and one earned run.

S-M plays at No. 1 Bertha on Thursday. Bertha beat Wadena 7-1 Monday. Wadena plays at Sebeka on Thursday.

If S-M loses it will play at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. If it wins it will play at 5 p.m. Saturday. Both game will be at Menahga.
