Strong thunderstorms were expected to push through the Plains and into the middle and lower Mississippi Valley Saturday, while unseasonably cool temperatures were forecast across the northern Plains and northern Great Lakes.
A stationary front extending from the western Plains to the southeastern United States was expected to produce strong to severe thunderstorms across much of the Gulf Coast states, Florida, and the Southeast coastal states. The strongest storms were expected across the Gulf Coast and into the Carolinas.
