CLC offers training for owners and managers at business program in August

Central Lakes College in Brainerd and Staples has announced the following Small Business Management program training opportunities:

Facts & Figures * Understanding Accounting Reports; Tuesday, Aug. 15 and Tuesday, Aug. 22, 8 -10 a.m.

This is an introduction to reading and interpreting reports from accounting software, with discussion on the relationship between cash flow and profitability. Find out when an asset is like an expense and discover who cares about balance sheets.

Payroll for Small Business; Wednesday, Sept. 13 and Wednesday, Sept. 20, 8 -10 a.m.

Learn to set up and maintain payroll for your business, including use of hiring forms, payroll deduction, quarterly and annual government reporting.

Get Your Ducks in a Row * Preparing for Year-End; Friday, Nov. 10, 8:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. or Monday, Dec. 4, 5:30-9:30 p.m.

Discuss activities that can be done now to prepare for year-end financial reporting. Receive a checklist of year-end items. Be prepared to meet with your tax professional.

All three of the above short courses will be held on the Brainerd campus and include a personal, "at your place of business" session to be scheduled, according to instructor Yvonne Leiser (855-8148). Tuition is $131.90 for each, with a second person from the same business registered at no extra cost.

Another training opportunity that can be scheduled at individual business locations when convenient to the firm is The Check is in the Mail * Billing and Collection Tips. Leiser said this training helps turn accounts receivable into cash.

The fee for this coaching is $197.85, with a second person from the same business registered at no extra cost.
