Morey Fish Co. announced an internal strategic shift in its national sales and marketing roles.
The company promoted Michelle Pape to executive vice president, sales and marketing for Morey's branded products. Pape had been Morey's vice president, marketing.
In her new role, Pape will oversee the development and planning of national strategy for Morey's branded products. She will also lead the sales and marketing efforts for Morey's branded products, which are now available in 39 states. The line includes Morey's marinated salmon, smoked salmon, traditional smoked fish and spreads.
The national sales, marketing and research and development teams for those products will report to Pape.
Morey's also promoted Tracy Wiese to director of marketing from director, brand management. Wiese, a former Lund Food Holdings director of communications, joined Minnesota-based Morey's in January.
Wiese will handle the day-to-day responsibilities of Morey's marketing, as well as help direct the strategic positioning of corporate brands, new product marketing and internal/external corporate communications. Wiese will report directly to Pape.
Morey's also hired Connecticut-based Frank Sauro as market development manager. His main responsibility will be to expand retail for Morey's products in the northeastern U.S. Sauro has more than 17 years experience in the food industry with such companies as Land O'Lakes and Pezrow. He will manage and introduce Morey's products into new markets.
In other staff changes, Morey's promoted Jim Walstrom to executive vice president/general manager of distribution. He was formerly the company's vice president, sales.
Randy Olson was hired as market development manager and Tom Anderson was hired as customer development coordinator. Olson was formerly assistant meat/seafood manager for Lund Food Holdings, parent company of Lunds and Byerly's supermarkets. Anderson as formerly marketing coordinator for Morey Fish Co.
Walstrom will now have responsibility for the entire Morey Fish Co. distribution, including purchasing, processing, warehouse/inventory and non-branded sales.
