Bees lose 3

COLD SPRING - The Brainerd Bees lost three games in last weekend's Nick Bell Classic.

Sunday, Shakopee nipped the Bees 2-1 as Kevin Peterson's triple drove in the only Brainerd run. Losing pitcher Burrell Flanagan went 6 and 1/3 innings, allowing two earned runs and four walks. He struck out two and hit two batters.

Saturday, Austin beat the Bees 6-3. Reid Mimmack was 2-for-3 and Joel Martin had an RBI double for the Bees. Tim Martin took the loss, allowing four earned runs in seven innings. He struck out four, walked one and hit two batters.

Also Saturday, the Bees lost to the Minneapolis Cobras 6-1. Chris Smolke was 2-2 with a double and RBI, Tim Martin doubled and Joel Martin doubled and scored a run.

Smolke pitched four innings and took the loss. He allowed four earned runs, walked three, struck out two and hit one.
