Harry Felty
SHOREVIEW - Harry C. Felty, 86, Shoreview, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2007, at the St. Cloud Hospital, complications from a car accident. He was born June 27, 1921 in Wytheville, Va. to Kent and Vaden (Gregory) Felty. He married Delores Nelson in Brainerd on Oct. 15, 1949. He was a US veteran who served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He was employed by NSP before his retirement. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

OUR OPINION: BONDING BILL
The possibility of a new performing arts center at Central Lakes College in Brainerd has generated excitement among many people but here's a cautionary note to consider: The competition for state funding will be fierce this year.

A recent letter writer thought it was a good thing that Scooter Libby's sentence was commuted. He then proceeded to attack, "liberals," President Clinton's "pardons," and gave not one reason why it was good to pardon Scooter. He was convicted by a jury of his peers of lying under oath and maybe it is a good thing to pardon him. I really don't know.

This is in response to if we need a special needs day care in Brainerd. If my child has pink eye or a cold, I don't know if I would take him there for the duration of that illness, I need more information. I worry about all the germs he and others are leaving behind. Will he catch something else? Will it just be an ongoing sickness for him and others? I think it is a great idea, but will this just be a passing of germs and making illnesses very hard to get rid of?
Guest column: The days of cheap oil may be over
American drivers wince as they pull up at the pump to pay $3 and more for a gallon of gasoline. Our leaders respond by asking OPEC to produce more oil. Congress passes a ludicrous bill making it illegal for oil producing countries to manipulate prices by withholding "our oil" from the market.
