Osequera tosses 3-hitter for Gulls
WATERLOO -- Mike Osequera tossed a three-hitter Thursday to lead the Brainerd Mighty Gulls to an 8-1 victory over Southern Division leading Waterloo in the Northwoods League.
A solid pitching outing is just what the Gulls needed as they stopped a four-game losing streak. The University of San Diego left hander threw a complete game, allowed no earned runs while struck out eight. His ERA this summer is 2.51.
Brainerd scored four runs in the first inning and another in the second to build an early 5-0 lead.
Hurler's ERA stands at 2.51.
Eight Mighty Gulls recorded nine hits. Joe Lima smacked two of those hits while Mike McCoy was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base.
