CROSBY - A 9-year-old Crosby boy donated $50 for the Kans 4 Kops program by selling the aluminum cans collected after he helped his father clean up their yard.

In early July, Logan DeCent, son of Jim DeCent and Missy Cutter, surprised members of the Crosby Police Department with his donation of more than $50. The money will go toward the Kans 4 Kops scholarship for the 2011 school year.

Members of the Crosby Police Department, along with other law enforcement officers and residents in the county, have been involved with a Kans 4 Kops program that funds an annual scholarship for a criminal justice student at the Central Lakes College in Brainerd each year. The program is in its third year, with money raised by individuals collecting and selling aluminum cans.
