LITTLE FALLS - A new program series, Outdoors Extra!, will feature voyageur canoeing at Charles A. Lindbergh State Park on Saturday.
Visitors may ride and paddle in one of two 10-person canoes while guides share stores from early explorers. One-hour tours depart at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Participants must be at least 10 years old. Paddles and life jackets provided. Registration required and limited to the first 18 people for each tour; call 320-616-2525 or drop by the park office and leave your name, phone number and number of people attending.
The park entrance is located one mile southwest of Little Falls on Lindbergh Drive South.
This program is part of the new "Outdoors EXTRA!" series that aims to get more people outdoors - especially families with young children - by offering new things to see and do at Minnesota state parks, trails, and recreation areas this summer. More than 50 events will feature known entertainers, musicians, storytellers and outdoor skill-building experts between June 6 and Sept. 25.
These events are free, but a vehicle permit is necessary to enter Minnesota state parks and recreation areas. Permits ($5 for a one-day permit or $25 for a year-round permit) can be purchased at the parks. There is no charge to use Minnesota state trails.
