Elnor Gulbrandsen

Elnor Gulbrandsen, 88, of Brainerd, died at her home Thursday, July 16, 2009.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Pillager with the Rev. Bob Osell and Rev. Bill Damberg officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter and one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at the Wildwood Cemetery in Pillager. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.

Elnor was born March 23, 1921, in Barhard, Mont., to Ralph and Emma (Dorsey) Winship. Then moved to Pillager in 1944 and became a member of the First Baptist, where she was very active in numerous activities. Elnor was helpful in many ways to so many people. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and many crafts, including needlepoint and especially painting. Outdoor interests were flower gardening, feeding and watching the birds and especially fishing. She also enjoyed bingo and other games.

Elnor is survived by her children, Janet Allee, of Brainerd, Joan (Robert) Loucks, of Pillager, Ruth (Jim) Hills, of Racine, Wis., Tony (Donna) Phillips, of Elkhorn, Wis., and Kathy (Dwayne) Johnson, of Dawson, Minn.; 19 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and sisters and brothers, Vernice Palmer, Mary Fisk, Miles Madison and Charles Burgess.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Howard Phillips and Martin Gulbrandsen; parents, Ralph and Emma; sister, Lorna Marcum; and brother, Ralph Winship.
