Why was Libby's sentence commuted?
A recent letter writer thought it was a good thing that Scooter Libby's sentence was commuted. He then proceeded to attack, "liberals," President Clinton's "pardons," and gave not one reason why it was good to pardon Scooter. He was convicted by a jury of his peers of lying under oath and maybe it is a good thing to pardon him. I really don't know.
However, since the vice president and the White House chief of staff are untouchable he was the scapegoat...most of us realize that. This administration promised to clean up corruption, balance the budget and protect us from the bad guys. They have done nothing to do anything they promised including protecting us - lest we forget 9/11. Conservatives and liberals rant on, point fingers, and blow smoke. Meanwhile, our jobs disappear, we just "imagine" there is inflation and it's business as usual.
Who is finally going to stand up and represent the vast majority of us in the middle?
