Construction forces change in access to County Service Building

Posted: Wednesday, July 20, 2005

Effective Thursday, the entrance to social service agencies and other offices in the County Service Building will be changed because of work being done to the front of the building.

Starting Thursday, the front door may only be accessed from the sidewalk running between the Crow Wing County Historical Society museum and the Law Enforcement Center.

The public should park in the public lot north of the LEC and west of the County Service Building, which can be reached from Laurel Street.

The work includes completion of tunnel waterproofing and removal of a coal bin from under the plaza.

Those people who don't use wheelchairs and who park in the parking lot east of the County Service Building may enter the courthouse, go down the stairs to the basement turn left and use the tunnel connecting the courthouse to the service center.

Handicapped persons may use the ramp into the courthouse and stop at the county administrator's office on the first floor. Office staff will call social services and someone will be sent to escort those individuals through the east employee entrance into the building.

It's anticipated the detour will be used through July 29. Signs will be placed to direct the public to various offices.
