20 years ago (1990)

Former Crow Wing County Land Commissioner Lansin Hamilton has been hired as wood procurement manager by MacMillan Bloedel for its new plant near Deerwood. Manager John Robillard said Hamilton was chosen for his local knowledge.

30 years ago (1980)

Mary Austin considers herself a lucky woman. Adopted when she was about 3 years old, she never knew her real brothers and sisters, but now at the age of 43, she has found one of them, Morgan Copeland. And what's more, it was all coincidental.

40 years ago (1970)

60 years ago (1950)

An automobile, said to be owned by Gene Stolze, was found on a Duluth street, according to state crime bureau officials. Stolze has been missing from the Brainerd resort area since June 30. His belongings remain at a resort but his billfold was found.

80 years ago (1930)

The North American Beaver Ranch of Pillager has made a shipment of two pair of beaver to Nolde, Norway. The beaver were of unusual quality and were the last of several shipments to foreign countries. Sufficient food was packed for the long journey.

100 years ago (1910)

An ordinance has been prepared for the city council regulating the use of motor vehicles within the city. Operators must obtain a yearly license at a fee of $10, and the speed limit is set at 8 miles per hour. Infractions are subject to a fine from $5 to $25.
