Baxter's Mark Johnson won his fourth consecutive Wissota Street Stock feature Saturday night at North Central Speedway. Other main feature winners were polesitters Brad Jensen and John Thompson in Wissota Super Stock and Wissota Midwest Modified and Charlie Peterson in NCS Pure Stock.
This was Jensen's second consecutive feature win at the speedway, third overall, and Thompson and Peterson's second feature wins at the speedway this season.
Winning the NCS Pure Stock B feature was Dennis Johnson.
Jensen, who led from start to finish, was the only racer to collect a clean sweep by winning his heat and the 20-lap feature.
In the Wissota Street Stock feature, polesitter Mark Johnson also led from start to finish. The battle was for second place between Bobby Young, who started third and Randy Sprague who started fifth.
Young held off Sprague until the 11th lap when Young had a flat tire. This put Donnie Jensen, who trails Mark Johnson by only eight points, into third place where he remained until the finish.
Thompson did not lead from start to finish despite starting on the pole. Outside polesitter and one-time winner at the speedway Tim Brown making his return held the lead for the first two laps.
Thompson said in a phone interview Sunday that Brown's open wheeler with a new engine "pulled pretty good on the bottom" of the speedway.
Thompson made the winning pass on the third lap. He said he stayed on the high side and passed Brown on one of the turns.
"(Brown) and I raced side by side," Thompson said, "which was just a blast. We really had a lot of fun."
Thompson noted that four-time winner at the speedway Troy Jordan pulled alongside him too. Jordan finished second followed by Brown.
"It was fun to be able to hold those guys off," Thompson said.
In the remaining laps Thompson kept running the higher line. "I found my groove but I was waiting for Jordan to come knocking on my door," he commented.
For outside polesitter Peterson, this was only his second night racing his new car after a rollover destroyed his other car June 19.
He made the winning pass over polesitter and race-leader Lance Sprague on the fifth lap. Sprague finished third. Doug Miller, a two-time winner at the speedway, finished second.
This was the case in the Wissota Super Stock feature too. For the first few laps, it was between Tom Feierabend and Tim Johnson. Once Feierabend had mechanical problems, Johnson battled Justin Aylward, who was making a return to the speedway for the first time in several shows.
Aylward was in second for three laps when Johnson passed him for good on the 13th lap. Aylward finished third followed by Kurt Loftis, who worked his way from last place after the first of six cautions.
Aylward was familiarizing himself with the speedway in preparation for the Wissota Tri-Star Late Model Challenge Series Tuesday.
The challenge series will start at about 7 p.m. Tuesday. The midwest modifieds and pure stocks will also race. The winner of the midwest modified feature will win $1,000.
