14-hit attack powers Brainerd

PAYNESVILLE -- The Brainerd Legion baseball team kept the wheels rolling as it traveled to Paynesville and came away with its ninth straight victory, winning 11-8.

Brainerd pounded out 14 hits and were led by Anthony Hennen, who went 3-for-5 at the plate and Mike Germain, who had a three-run home run and finished the game with four RBI.

Adian Kummet, Devin Roberts and Scott Williams all chipped in with two hits apiece. Roberts had three RBI, Aaron Jenkins added two RBI and Williams one.

Brainerd used four pitchers to beat Paynesville with Williams pitching 2 1/3 innings to get the win while Jenkins closed out the game to pick up the save.

Brainerd, who's 20-5 overall, will face Nisswa 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in a best of three playoff for the subdistrict title.
