Rev. Carl A. Lindman

Rev. Carl A. Lindman, 86, formerly of Pillager, died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Bethany Covenant Home, Minneapolis, Minn.

He was born October 10, 1916, to Karl and Christina (Sjoman) Lindman in Duluth, Minn. He graduated from Denfeld High School in Duluth, Bethel Seminary in St. Paul and the UMD with a teaching degree. He married Florence Lindstrom Aug. 22, 1941. Florence passed away November 12, 2002. Carl taught at the Pillager High School and also served as its principal in the 1940s. He pastored the First Baptist Church in Pillager from 1938-1953; the Bethany Baptist Church; Anchorage, Alaska, from 1953-1958, returning to First Baptist in Pillager 1958-1968 and then the Soldotna Bible Chapel, Soldotna, Alaska, 1968-1984. Upon his retirement, he and Florence moved back to Pillager where they resided until entering the Bethany Covenant Home.

Survived by: two sons, Robert (Marilyn) Lindman, Lino Lakes, Minn., Gary (Marsha) Lindman, Soldotna, Alaska; two daughters, Barbara Lindman, Shoreview, Minn., and Mary (Dan) Carlson, Moundsview, Minn.; a sister, Irene (Harold) Gillson, Pillager; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Florence, parents, and sister Inez Lindman.

Services will be Monday, July 21, 11 a.m., at the Assemblies of God Church, Pillager, with Pastor Robert Osell officiating. Friends may call Sunday, July 20, 5-7 p.m. at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.
