20 years ago (1980)

Todd Dudgeon, son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Dudgeon, Route 8, Brainerd has been selected as a member of the 1980 Minnesota All-State Choir. Dudgeon is a senior at Brainerd High School and is a member of the A Cappella Choir and Windfall.

30 years ago (1970)

Cecilia Gorman annexed Grandmother's Golf Tourney honors at the Brainerd Golf Course one stroke up on Enid Fitzsimons. Third place laurels went to June Dinsmore.

40 years ago (1960)

Brainerd taxpayers who believe effective education does not depend on elaborate and costly facilities were given some encouragement here this week when the School Board shaved about $9,000 from a building plan by simplifying it.

60 years ago (1940)

Dan Whitney will head the Salvation Army Home Service Campaign for $1200 next week following a kick-off dinner at Van's Cafe Monday.

80 years ago (1920)

The new Hardware firm of Judd Wright and Son has started business in Brainerd at 622 Laurel Street. The elder Mr. Wright has made his home in Brainerd 41 years.

100 years ago (1900)

The B. and N.M. Railway will run an excursion to Bemidji next Sunday, the fare for the round trip being $2.00. Bemidji is one of the finest towns in northern Minnesota and the opportunities for enjoying one's self is the best.
