Keprios joins Deerwood Bank
DEERWOOD - Deerwood Bank announces the addition of Brainerd-native Paul Keprios to its Baxter location.
Keprios joins Deerwood Bank with previous experience in market data, valuation and research services in the commercial real estate industry, as well as previous banking experience with Wells Fargo. Keprios joins Deerwood Bank's Baxter branch as a business banker.

Bringing nine years of industry experience to Deerwood Bank, Keprios graduated from St. Cloud State University with a degree in marketing and a masters of business administration from Cardinal Stritch University.
Fink conducts workshop at Sleep Medicine Conference
Brainerd Lakes Health announced Sleep Center Manager Christopher Fink recently presented at the Associated Professional Sleep Society meetings in Seattle.
Fink conducted a workshop entitled Cognitive Behavioral Treatment of Insomnia - The Alternative Solution. The meetings were attended by sleep medicine professionals, researchers and physicians from across the nation.

Fink has worked at the Brainerd Sleep Health Center since November 2007. He has a degree in exercise physiology from the College of Saint Scholastica.
Northstar Physicians Network adds four clinics
BAXTER - One of the fastest growing networks of clinics in the region, Northstar Physicians Network of Duluth, added four clinics, including two in Baxter.
The area clinics are Dermatology Professionals and Dr. Kurtis Waters, both of Baxter.
Dermatology Professionals is a solo practice, owned and operated by Dr. Paul Lundstrom, featuring a new state-of-the-art facility, including medical spa.
Waters is an ear, nose and throat specialist, as well as a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon. His solo practice also specializes in women's health services.
The other clinics are in Cold Spring and Sartell.
Rardin joins Salon Couture
PEQUOT LAKES - Kylie Rardin recently joined Salon Couture on old Highway 371 in Pequot Lakes as a cosmetologist.

She is a graduate of Brainerd High School and Regency Beauty Academy in St. Cloud. She previously worked at Regis in St. Cloud. Rardin is trained in all areas of the salon and specializes in current, fashionable cuts and colors.

BAXTER - Shanda Ament, Baxter, became an independent consultant with Tastefully Simple Inc., the national direct sales company designed with easy-to-prepare food products.

Lakewood participates in Stratis health initiative
STAPLES - Lakewood Health System is participating in the Stratis Health Preventative Health Initiative, an effort designed to assist clinics in becoming more effective in improving health care quality, preventative health services and patient safety by implementing and optimizing the use of health information technology, specifically electronic health records.
Schwen earns master's degree in communication
Jodi (Anderson) Schwen, Brainerd, was awarded a master's degree in communication by Bethel University in St. Paul.
She also completed her undergraduate studies at Bethel University with a bachelor's degree in communication. Schwen was a commencement speaker, representing the graduate school student body, at the graduation ceremony at the B.U. Great Hall.

'Be in the Pink' event focuses on breast health
STAPLES - Lakewood Health System will be hosting an event titled HealthBEAT For Her: Be in the Pink on July 27 at 4 p.m. in its Main Campus classrooms.
This event is part of Lakewood's 2009 HealthBEATs speaking series, which offers presentations, facts and discussion on unique services and programs.
Be in the Pink is an event designed to cover the scope of breast health at Lakewood Health System: breast self exams and other preventative measures, mammography facts, Lakewood Health System's breast health technology and presentations by Lakewood's Breast Health navigator, radiology manager and a breast cancer survivor. Presentations will begin at 4:30 p.m. after the social time at 4 p.m.
Presentations include; Be in the Pink: Breast Cancer Facts by Kristin Posner, registered nurse, Breast Health navigator; Newest Technologies in Breast Health by Charlene Sauer, radiology manager; A Survivor's Story by Libby Peterson.
Participants will learn breast self-exam techniques with Lakewood's simulated breast model while enjoying snacks and conversation with friends and Lakewood professionals. RSVP is encouraged to attend Be in the Pink. For more information, call Nola at (218) 894-8586.
CHOW planned Thursday in Baxter
BAXTER - The Brainerd Lakes Chamber luncheon networking event CHOW is planned from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Dondelinger Chevrolet/Cadillac, at 7915 Highway 210 W. Baxter, across from Super One Foods.
Participants will be able to check out the newly remodeled facility and partake in lunch prepared by Mayson's Grille of Pequot Lakes.

Time Communications earns distinction
Time Communications, which has offices in Brainerd, won the 2009 Call Center Award of Distinction by the Association of TeleServices International.
The industry's Trade Association for providers of call center services, including inbound order desk/help desk and Web-enabled customers assistance, recognized Time Communications at ATSI's 2009 annual convention in Pittsburgh.
The award was created to measure the skills of professional call center agents.
After six months of testing, an independent panel of judges scored call-handling skills for enhanced service applications, focusing attention on customer relationship management, courtesy, etiquette and the use of proper call techniques, as well as response time and accuracy. Founded in 1972, Time Communications has 100 employees and offices in St. Paul, New York Mills and Brainerd. Mike Eastwood is chief executive officer.
