ONAMIA -- Grand Casino Mille Lacs announced that Bering Strait, scheduled to perform this weekend at the casino as part of the Bluegrass & Arts and Crafts Festival, canceled its performance because of an illness.
The Lonesome Tradition, a traditional bluegrass band from central Minnesota, will perform instead. The Lonesome Tradition will perform noon to 5 p.m. Saturday under the Grand Casino Mille Lacs Events Center canopy as part of the festival.
From noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, the Lonesome River Band will perform in the same location.
Approximately 35 artisans will display their arts and crafts for sale. The arts and crafts festival will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
MMBA to host golf tournament
The Mid-Minnesota Builders Association will have its 12th annual MMBA Scholarship Golf Tournament Tuesday at Pine Meadows Golf Course in Brainerd.
About 170 members and guests will play throughout the day. This event raises funds for the MMBA Scholarship Fund, which is awarded annually to graduating students in the lakes area.
Any graduating students who wish to apply for this scholarship should contact the Mid-Minnesota Builders Association for an application. The golf tournament will be followed by a dinner and awards banquet. Area businesses have donated numerous door prizes and awards.
