Flynn gains specialist award

CROSSLAKE -- Teri Jo Flynn, a real estate agent, accredited buyer representative, Graduate Realtor Institute and Internet specialist with RE/MAX Lakes Area Realty in Crosslake, recently was awarded the Senior Real Estate Specialist professional designation by the Senior Advantage Real Estate Council in Murphys, Calif.

Seniors Real Estate Specialists help seniors make decisions about selling the family home, buying rental property, managing the capital gains and estate tax implications of owning real estate, obtaining a reverse mortgage, moving to a senior community and other issues.

By earning the SRES designation, Flynn has demonstrated she has the requisite knowledge, experience and expertise to be a Seniors Real Estate Specialist.

The Senior Advantage Real Estate Council tracks the special issues and needs of the senior property owners and provides education to real estate agents who make the seniors an important focus of their business. The SRES designations was introduced in 1997 and is nationally recognized.

Crosslake home tour to begin Thursday

CROSSLAKE -- The Crosslake Area Historical Society's annual home tour is set July 24 and 25.

One of the four homes on the tour is reported to have the elegance of a manor home, the livability of a hunting lodge and "intellectual stimulation of a museum."

The tour begins at 8:30 a.m. with coffee and doughnuts and a look at the Crosslake Area Historical Society's museum grounds and buildings.

Participants then board buses, each of which goes to a different home. Tour participants will tour two homes and then find a snack set for them on the bus. After the last home tour for each bus, the groups return for a gourmet lunch.

Cost of the tour and lunch is $40. Reservations may be made by sending a check and self addressed, stamped envelope to: Home Tour, CLAHS, P.O. Box 134, Crosslake, MN 56442. Be sure to indicate the tour day of choice and if participants want to be together. The home tour benefits the historical society and has been going for 13 years.
